What people say
★★★★★694 checked reviews

We saw a turtle and dolphins out on the water, the guides explained everything kindly, and the Aharen beach felt like an aquarium under the surface.

Everything ran smoothly: the buses were ready when we landed, the sea was crystal clear, and lunch was a simple vegetarian curry with rice.

The snorkeling was great fun but fast, so check your fitness first, and there was still plenty of time to explore the island afterwards.

Well planned and easy to follow, with a very good Japanese curry for lunch. Snorkeling began in the afternoon sun, so cover up against sunburn.

The whole day was organised, with transport and lunch arranged, and I added the snorkeling, where the instructors guided me patiently at every step.

We saw turtles, the guides were great and I loved the island, which still looked lovely on a day when the weather was not at its best.
the day
Tokashiki Island in Okinawa is a day away from Naha, and the day starts there. The listing says the first boat checks in at Naha Miegusuku Port at 08:40 and leaves at 09:20, and it reaches Tokashiki at 10:30, where a private shuttle takes guests to the beach. The trip is a same-day round trip, and the listing gives its length as 8.5 - 9.5 hours.
On the island you pick the shape of the day. Free time at Aharen Beach comes with a curry rice lunch, the Aharen plus turtle option adds a guided snorkeling session at Tokashiku Beach, and the Tokashiku Beach option comes with its own lunch choice. The booking panel below shows the live price and the open dates.
The return shuttle leaves the beach at 16:00, the boat leaves Tokashiki at 16:20 and it arrives back in Naha at 17:10. That is a full day on the water and the sand, with no nights to book and no ferry timetable of your own to manage.

the crossing
The listing says the sea crossing is by the village ferry from Tomarin or, in summer, by a charter boat from Miegusuku Port. The village's own boats are the Marine Liner, which takes 40 minutes, and the car ferry, which takes 70 minutes. The times on your voucher decide which one you meet.
The crossing is the part the sea can change. Tokashiki village cancels the Marine Liner in waves above 3 meters and the car ferry in waves above 4 meters, and it updates the sailing information at 8:00 every morning. Our listing says the tour may change or be cancelled for sea conditions, though rain alone is not a reason.
The ferry guide on this site sets out the public timetable, the fares and the booking rules, for anyone who wants to cross without a package. The fares there are in yen exactly as the village states them, and ours is a package that bundles the boat with the day.

lunch and shuttles
Lunch is part of the day. The listing gives curry rice on the Aharen option and Okinawa soba, a beef bowl or curry rice on the Tokashiku option, and it is not included on an infant ticket. Reviewers call it simple and, in one case, very good.
The island shuttles are included too. The listing says a private shuttle takes guests from the port to the beach and that no walk from the port is needed. The village says no bus goes to Tokashiku, which makes an included transfer worth having.
What is not included is just as clear: gear rentals such as parasols are charged separately. The price starts from $62, and the booking panel shows the live figure for your date.

the turtles
Tokashiku Beach lies on the west coast at the end of a forest trail, and Visit Okinawa Japan calls it a haven for sea turtles. The reef is one of the best places on the island to sight a turtle, where turtles are known to feed around the reef.
Our listing offers a guided turtle snorkeling session there as part of the Aharen plus turtle option, with the snorkel set included and the start time announced on the island. Snorkeling on the listing is for ages 6 to 59, beginner-friendly, with a life jacket compulsory.
Turtles are wild animals. The listing gives no refund for a changed place or for no turtle sightings, and the village sign bans pursuing turtles under any circumstances. Go for the swim and the reef, and treat a turtle as a gift.

aharen
Visit Okinawa Japan describes the arcing expanse of Aharen Beach as great for watersports, with bars and cafes within an easy walk and a transfer from the port of less than 15 minutes. It lists the beach with parking, a lifeguard, toilets, showers, lockers, a shop and a campsite, and entrance is free.
Using the facilities costs extra, and marine activities are run by an outside provider. Our listing says coin lockers are limited and parasols and similar gear can be rented at an extra charge, so decide early what you want to carry.
The village sign on the beach asks everyone to follow the lifeguard, to wear a life jacket when snorkeling and never to chase sea turtles. The Aharen guide on this site covers the zones, the hours and the quiet corners around the cape in more detail.

what guests say
The ten newest English reviews on file, from 31 May to 29 July 2026, are all five-star. Guests describe a smooth, well-organised day with transport and lunch arranged, buses waiting at the island port and helpful snorkeling instructors. That fits the listing's rating of 4.3 from 694 reviews.
The details are specific. Turtles were seen, and one guest also saw dolphins, while another calls the Aharen beach wonderful and the underwater world like an aquarium. One liked the curry lunch, which they called very good.
The cautions are useful too. One says the start in Naha felt chaotic but the staff on the island were excellent, one warns that snorkeling began at about 13:30 and that it is easy to get sunburnt, and one says the guides swim fast and that guests should judge their fitness first.
Reserve and cancel for freeThe park under the boat
Keramashoto National Park was designated on 5 March 2014.
The Ministry of the Environment lists 3,520 ha of land area, and Tokashiki is the largest island in the park at 15 square kilometers.
beginners
The listing calls the snorkeling beginner-friendly, for ages 6 to 59, with a life jacket compulsory and an instructor who has basic English. The village sign at the beach also requires a life jacket when snorkeling in the surveillance area.
Health and age limits apply. Guests over 59, guests who are intoxicated and guests with certain medical conditions, including asthma, may not take part, and the charter option is closed to pregnant guests. Under-19s need parental consent, and guests sign a consent form on the day.
Judge your own fitness honestly. A reviewer warns that the guides swim fast, with a pole to hold onto, and the listing says swimming is at your own risk and should stay in lifeguard-patrolled areas.
Reserve and cancel for freeTokashiki, in brief
This is the Tokashiki Island day trip we list: a same-day round trip from Naha lasting 8.5 - 9.5 hours, crossing by the village ferry or, in summer, a charter boat. Lunch and the island shuttles are included, and you choose free time at Aharen Beach or an optional guided turtle session at Tokashiku Beach.

when to go
The beaches list a swimming season from mid-April to November, and Visit Okinawa Japan puts the sea temperature at around 21 degrees Celsius in February and nearly 30 in August. The rainy season is typically mid-May to late June, and typhoons are possible from June through September.
Winter brings humpback whales, which reach the Kerama area in January and leave in April. Our listing is a beach and snorkeling day and has no whale element, so a winter visit needs a separate whale tour.
The weather page on this site reads the Naha record month by month, and the block below shows the same figures. An extra later departure runs from 12 July to 31 August, which gives a longer day in high summer.

what to carry
Carry yen. The village says there is no ATM near Aharen beach, and the island's only ATM it names is at the post office, open 8:45-17:30 Monday to Friday. Naha Tomari Port has an ATM and an exchange machine in the Lawson convenience store.
Carry sun protection, as one reviewer got burnt when snorkeling began in the afternoon. Wear swimwear under your clothes, bring a towel and keep valuables small, because coin lockers on the listing are limited.
Carry the voucher. The first boat checks in early at Naha Miegusuku Port, and the listing offers reserve now and pay later, with free cancelling until a day before. Keep the confirmation on your phone.

rough seas
The sea decides some days. The village cancels the Marine Liner when waves are more than 3 meters and the car ferry when they are more than 4 meters. Typhoons occur most often in August, and Visit Okinawa Japan advises checking the forecast.
Our listing says the tour may change or be cancelled because of sea conditions, and that rain alone is not a reason. You can cancel free until a day before the start, and the full fare comes back, which leaves room to move the date.
Leave a spare day around a flight, and look at the weather page on this site before you pick your date. A flexible booking is worth more here than a cheap one.
Reserve and cancel for freeis it for you
It suits couples, friends and families who want a beach day with the transport, lunch and shuttles arranged. A reviewer calls it well planned and prepared, and several praise the guides and the island staff. The optional turtle session adds a guided swim for guests aged 6 to 59.
It is less suited to guests over 59 who want to snorkel, to anyone with a medical condition that the listing lists, and to travellers who want an evening on the island. For a night, read the stay page on this site, and for a different island, read the Zamami comparison.
One honest caveat: the sea and the turtles decide part of the day. The listing lets you cancel free until a day before, and the booking panel shows today's price.
